Fort Worth Celebrates International Day of the Girl

Staff Report / FTWlocal.org

On October 11, 2023, approximately 750 participants gathered in downtown Fort Worth to celebrate International Day of the Girl. The event, organized by Girls Inc. in collaboration with Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD), featured the chants of "strong, smart, bold" as the students marched from the Young Women's Leadership Academy to Burnett Park.

The celebration included performances from the Eastern Hills High School band and dancers, as well as a showcase by the O.D. Wyatt drumline. The gathering was attended by hundreds of women of various ages, united in support of the young girls of Fort Worth.

FWISD emphasized the importance of partnerships with organizations like Girls Inc. to empower young women in the community.
